The new year has brought the best out of Gareth Bale. The Welshman has been clinical in the opening matches of 2018. A clear example came in the thrashing of Deportivo
, in which he was one of the men of the match, causing problems down the right and netting a brace. With those two goals, he already has five in the four matches he’s played in during January.
Bale is the team's top scorer at the beginning of the year. On top of his goals against Deportivo, he got two against Celta and one in Soria. As well as the Welshman, seven other madridistas have scored in 2018. Cristiano Ronaldo, Nacho and Lucas Vázquez have two goals each, while Isco, Mayoral, Asensio and Modric have got one.
Goals and assists
Despite having missed several games due to injury, Bale is the second top scoring Whites’s player this season. Only Cristiano Ronaldo
is ahead of him. The Welshman has got 9 goals, shared between the league (six), Champions League (one), Cup (one) and the Club World Cup (one). In addition, he is the team's top assist provider, level with Marcelo. Both have provided five passes which have led to goals.
